Paper play

I was at JoAnn's yesterday, waiting for my number to be called at the cut table, looking at books and this Repro Depot book jumped out at me. (with a coupon it was only $15, yay!) I love this book, it has all these beautiful vintage inspired floral designs. It comes with a disc so you can use the patterns however want to. Man, I really need to learn how to use photoshop for more than just editing pictures :) Anyways, I was super excited and had some of the patterns printed up for me today. Now I just need to figure out what I want to do with them.

I've been in sortof a sewing rut, so I decided to take a break from sewing and play with paper today. I had some little tags hanging about and stamped them and then used some punches on my Urban Outfitters and Cath Kidston magazines. I love them, I think they are so much fun!

I {heart} cupcakes and sugar cookies

I bought this cupcake book at Costco the other day, it has to have some of the funnest, most original ideas for cupcakes that I have seen. One of my favorite sections in it is for April Fool's day, it has Corn on the cob, TV dinner, and spaghetti and meatballs cupcakes. LOVE IT!

Onto the sugar cookies, I love cutout sugar cookies, they are delish and they are fun to decorate. I have wanted for the longest time a really cool bird cookie cutter among others. I found some at Bake It Pretty! Isn't the gnome so cute? I love him. So, I ordered a whole bunch of fun cookie cutters among other things, now I am in search of an awesome sugar cookie recipe. I haven't made sugar cookies in a really long time. So, if you have a great recipe would you mind sharing? Pretty please?

Peaceful Day

So, my life has been a bit crazy busy lately, and I have decided to take charge of it again. So today I didn't do any sewing (which is the reason for the crazy busyness) Today I needed to go to the Post Office which just happens to be down the street from my house, so Sage and I walked. It was the perfect day outside. Across from the Post Office is our church that has a really big front grass area with some of the coolest trees. So we had a little photo shoot in the over 100 year old Alice in Wonderland looking trees. Then, we walked down the street a bit to a fun store called All Tucked In, where I found this cute Halloween book. Humbug Witch by Lorna Balian ISBN 1-932065-32-6
Originally published in 1965, I just love the illustrations.
My two youngest daughters started their singing group today, on the way back we stopped at the side of the road and bought some local apples. Perfect, Laid back, Autumn Day
JUST WHAT I NEEDED

New Favorite Book

Last weekend, when the husband and myself had some alone time, we were at Williams Sonoma and I found this cupcake book. It is by far my most favorite cupcake book out of all the ones I own. I am going to have to try every recipe in this book! Here's the weird thing, I got on Amazon to get a picture of it and give you guys the info on it and it says it's not available until like October 14th. And the ISBN number and the publisher were different from what my book has. I know it's the same exact book because the author and the title are exactly the same. Weird. Anyways, the BEST CUPCAKE BOOK EVER. So, you can either wait till October to find it or try Williams Sonoma.
My first ever from scratch cupcakes, I opted for simple yellow cupcakes with chocolate buttercream, they were devoured with rave reviews from the whole family!

There are so many delish looking cupcakes in this book, White Chocolate & Raspberry (pictured below) is going to be one of the next I try while we still have raspberries from our garden!
There are so many good ones though; Black Forest, Coconut Lime, Lemon Poppy Seed, Tangerine, Pumpkin Pecan, Rocky Road, Molten Chocolate, just to name a few!

What is it about cupcakes? They're just so good. And addictive.

Good Reads

So, this was what I was doing the ENTIRE day yesterday. Man I love these books.
Now, I'm going to have to wait for the Twilight movie.

I recieved my first Japanese sewing book in the mail today, here is a little peek at it, we'll see if I try out anything in it, I am not the best at using patterns, they do seem pretty easy to figure out, and there are sooooo many cute things in it that would be the cutest on my girls.
And I added a few things to my shop today, I like how the pictures turned out way better than before, against the really cool weathered wall.

New favorite book

I love childrens books and I ran across this one and had to have it! It has the cutest pictures!
Synopsis: Little Hoot longs for a nice early bedtime, just like his friends. But because he’s an owl, his parents want him to learn to stay up late and like it. No matter how much skating or sword play he tries, nothing feels better than bed.
It is published by Chronicle Books, which maybe has to do with why I like it so much!
Author: Amy Krouse Rosenthal
Illustrated by: Jen Corace
Sorry for missing yesterday, my husband keeps stealing the camera!
