Two different parties for the 7 year old

So, Sage's birthday was almost a month ago and here I am today finally posting about it :)
This was her homemade chocolate cake for the family party, YUM!  Homemade is the best.

She is so stinkin cute, I love her.

Blowing out candles at the family party.

This little set up was for her party with friends.  Sage LOVES stuffed animals, and when I found these bunnies for 50 cents a piece, I immediately thought it would be a fun activity for Sage's party. I also found little sweaters for them for super cheap, so I just made little skirts for them.  So when the girls started arriving, they picked a bunny, fabric and ribbon.  We made a flower to embellish the skirt and ribbons for the ears.

Here they are with their customized bunnies.

Birthday cupcake with green her favorite color.

Crafting cards

And here are the favors we sent the girls home with, a watermelon flavored rock candy sucker and I don't know if you can tell or not, but I made little tiny banners and wrapped them around those little cardboard pieces that bias tape is wrapped on.  That was a good scrap buster project.  All I did was cut about 2 inch triangles with my pinking rotary blade, I just eyeballed them, no pattern.  Then I sewed them onto ribbon that was about a yard long, leaving tails on each end for hanging.  Easy peasy!

Baby shower planning

This week I am finishing putting together a baby shower for one of my sisters. I put little garlands on the invitations.

And I am borrowing this idea on Dandee for the shower, such a cute idea!
Each guest will take a heart pin and say how they know my sister and then one thing they love about motherhood.

I still have to finish making a few gifts for her too. I finished her quilt but I can't share it with you until I give it to her, I can't wait!

Cupcake party

party decorations = recycled cards and calendars that I have saved, and some paper doilies, all I did was punch circles out of them and sew them together.

The aprons I made for each girl, and since only two of the girls came, I have lots of extras, I'll be listing some in my shop next week.

lots of cupcakes, yum!

colorful icing

Sprinkles which looked so cute in gelato cups that I have saved.

The girls got to take their cupcake masterpieces home in their own cupcake boxes.

favors

This was one of the only pictures we got during the party, we were too busy helping the girls. At this point, they were done decorating and they started eating a cupcake. It was a crappy picture too and it looked better in black and white. One of my favorite things during the party, I asked the girls if they were having fun, and one of the girls that came said "This is so awesome!"
I am glad they had fun! I had fun planning it, I just wish more girls than two would have shown up. My girls were a bit bummed that only two of the girls invited showed up, but they handled it really well and we still had a ton of fun!

Cupcake Party favors

I am getting ready for my girl's cupcake party this Saturday. Today I put together the favor bags, these were so much fun to put together. I had way too many ideas of what to put in the bags and had to narrow it down.
Here's what we ended up with:
I bought popcorn bags to put everything in, super cute! Purchased from Hey Yoyo.
I made cupcake notebooks
chocolate pennies found at the World Market
a bag of gumballs
cute dish cloths I found at the dollar store (2 for $1) that I appliqued cupcakes on
Bakery stickers purchased from Cupcake Confessional that will fit perfectly in the vending machine capsules purchased from Hey Yoyo
a cute box of Japanese gum found at the World Market
and a fortune teller fish purchased from Cupcake Confessional

Cupcake invitations

I promised my girls this summer we would have a cupcake party and they could each invite two friends. Because a cupcake party would be fun and because I don't do birthday parties with friends, we do them with family. Anyways, these are the invites, I cut the cupcakes out of fabric and just sewed them down and then added a lace ruffle.
I think the party planning is alot of the fun. I've been gathering fun little things for favors, and I have all the supplies I need to make each girl an apron. I have fun cupcake liners. I need to find some cupcake boxes so each girl can take home some cupcakes they decorate. I need to take a visit to see my friend who still works at the bakery I worked at for nine years so I can find some cute cupcake decorations. Fun, fun!

SPARK: Part 1

Over the weekend I was able to participate in SPARK!

I had such a blast!

It would seem that most of my pictures are of the decor.

It was beeeeeautiful!

Here's my little booth I set up in the General Store.

The cute flowers on the tables.

Our food was even cute.

And yummy.

It was like magic at night.

It was amazing and I feel so blessed that I was able to be a part of it.
My Spark has been lit.

Baby shower details

Here are some details of the baby shower I put together for my sister in law a few weeks ago.
Yummy homemade cupcakes!

IZZE sparkling juices, one of my favorite things!

I made flower brooches as favors.

I found this sweetest vintage dress while thrift shopping and added all the ribbons, laces, and doilies to it as part of her gift. If you remember, I posted about the quilt I also made for her awhile back here. I also posted about the invites here.

Now all I have to do now is wait to meet my new niece Lucy, she is coming soon!

My own little "shop"

Last night I had a Vintage Fern open house, all summer when I was doing the Farmer's Market I always meant to take pictures and post them but never did, so I will now share my open house with you.
When I got it all set up, it really does look like it's own little shop.
If you look close at my dish towels in the right hand corner, you will see my newest design for Christmas, a Christmas tree with a bird resting on the top, I was very excited about these.

I have a ton of inventory. Here we have a sampling of my purses.

My favorite new things to make; vintage flower earrings, and wool felt hair clips.

Lots of baby stuff and ornaments.

More ornaments, cards, & notebooks.

And lots of bibs, onesies, t shirts, pillowcase dresses, little girls purses and aprons.

And one million appliqued t shirts, and also another new favorite thing to make customized slip dresses.
Sometimes, I look at all these things I have made, and can't believe that I have made it all and can't even imagine how many hours it would all add up to if I had kept track.
Another bonus about having an open house....... My house is clean and tidy and we are going to attempt to keep it that way, oh how I love a clean home, it feels so good.

Welcome!

Come on in, join the festivities!
Mind the bats though, they have a mind of their own:)

Please, take a treat!

You must have a cupcake also!

And what kind of a hostess would I be if there wasn't a prize? Two festive dish towels! Leave a comment on this post by Sunday night at 12 pm Mountain Standard Time, and I will pick a winner randomly Monday morning so they can be promptly on their way to arrive before Halloween!

Thanks for visiting and have a Happy Halloween!

There are a ton more festivities going on head over to A Fanciful Twist where she has a huge list of people participating in her party!
