The Wedding

Here's the cake I made for my sister Lacy yesterday, the red swirlies are made of white chocolate (everyone last night asked that question)

There was lots of twirling in twirly dresses last night.

Self portraits

Cute pictures to be taken

Kinsley being herself :)

More cute pictures to be taken

Silliness

Even a bit of angryness, although still cute :)

And Kinsley caught the bouquet.
Oh, and by the way whoever double dipped in the chocolate fountains, I was grossed out, just wanted to let you know, not like you will ever read this.

Randomness

Here's a cake I made last fall for someone my husband works with at the fire station.
Fall time is so beautiful and is a lovely time to get married. I thought I might miss making cakes more than I do, but truthfully I really don't miss it, I had a blast making cakes for what, I think it was 9 years, but it was definitely time to move on. Although I will still make cakes for family. Some random things that have been on my mind:

1. I've been really nervous lately, not for really any reason, I just can't stop biting the inside of my cheeks (that's what I do when I'm nervous) Solution: I think I need to not eat so much sugar, start working out, maybe some yoga, oh and maybe a bit more sleep.

2. My whole take on this whole our country is going into recession. It's the Lord's way of humbling us, for too long has the majority of people just been spending, spending, spending, and going into debt. It's gotten way out of hand. Just live within your means people. Enough said.

3. Why is it that every time I get a cold it always turns into a sinus infection?

4. Aren't these deer so cute? I bought them to make necklaces for my three girls for Christmas. This year is going to be a mostly handmade Christmas. I have some fun things planned, I will share them as I get to them!

5. Why oh why can I not keep my house clean? Clean one minute, a disaster the next I tell you. Such a viscous cycle!
6. I'm making the most awesome Christmas ornaments for upcoming shows, I will show pictures when I finish them.
7. I was at the book store today and I want this book!

And here is a random picture for you, my husband and I at Six Flags in Denver. When we went to get this picture my husband told the girl working there that he wanted me to look like a whore. I think I even got a couple whistles from guys passing by, kindof funny. I did have my swimsuit on underneath there with the straps to my top all tucked in, I still felt a bit naked though, which is funny because I was more covered in this than my swimsuit. That's enough ramblings for now, I should go to bed.

Sailboat

This is a Sailboat cake that I did years ago for a class I taught.
Sometimes it's fun to do boy stuff too even though I have three girls!

My Day

First, I made this cake for my cousin, I love the way it turned out. And it matched one of my new vintage tablecloths perfectly.

Here's a closeup of the top, I thought it looked cool.

Then, after I delivered the cake, I went to one of my favorite thrift stores and scored a ton of cool vintage ties. I have been looking and looking for cool ties to make a tie skirt for myself.
My husband is going to keep a couple to wear as intended though. Then, here is the most delish dinner, cottage cheese with vegies from my garden: Tiny orange tomatoes ( these are my favorite, they are like candy to me), cucumbers, bell pepper, and chives, and a bit of freshly ground salt and pepper. I was in heaven.
I even found some time to clean up my house a bit and get a couple sewing projects done. After I read my kids some books and get them to bed, I'm going to plug in a movie and do some more sewing for the Salt Lake Farmer's Market tomorrow!
Oh! Another great thing about today, my Husband took the day off to start the fence that I have been asking him to build for like a year! So, the almost 100 year old fence, (which is more like old chicken wire) is out, and we are now getting ready for the new fence. Yay!

Swirls

This is a wedding cake I made a few years ago, I love the combination of brown and pink together. On another note, I am no longer doing the Bountiful Farmer's Market. It makes me sad, because it is fun to visit with all my neighbors and friends, but it has turned out to not be worth my time this year. The Salt Lake farmer's market is awesome this year and I will continue to sell my things there!

Wedding Cake

This was my brother and sister in laws wedding cake that I made for them a bit over
two years agoI also found this cute picture of my girls, (wow have they grown since this picture)
And how could it be complete without a picture of the whole color coordinated family, I can't tell you how many times I try to get a picture where everyone is looking at the camera without a cheesy smile, (or a flipped around tie), I'm not sure if it is possible:)

We are going on vacation this week, so I'm taking a bit of a break from blogging, but I will be back with pictures from Bear Lake to share! Guess what else? I have good internet now, how awesome that I uploaded 3 pictures in way less time then it took to do 1? I don't know why it took me so long to actually change it, but it's great!
Have a great week!

Hamburger and Fries!

Not the best picture (pre-digital days), but you get the idea! I thought this was very appropriate for summer! Hamburger cakes were always fun to make!
I may be making fewer posts, I am trying to get used to doing the Farmer's Market, it keeps me really busy, and this week the other one that I like to do starts! Two farmer's markets a week! I think I'm crazy:) It's fun though!

Daisies!

This was for my now 4 year old's 1st birthday. The theme was, if you couldn't guess Daisies. So I made a small daisy cupcake cake, a rice krispie bowl with rice krispie daisies, daisy cupcakes, brownies with daisy picks, and daisy cookies, and then i went a bit crazy finding any candy that was yellow. I guess I really went crazy with the whole thing, it was so much fun to put together.
And I will mention again, this wall was at my parents house doesn't it look so 80's? So I know it's Tuesday night, and cake day is wednesday, but I am taking a break from the computer tommorow!

Polka Dots!

This was a fun cake to make with polka dots! Very unique. I actually am a bit sad about cakes today, I decorate the wedding cakes for a reception center just up the street from my house and I have made the decision that my life has become too hectic for me and I need to let go of some things, and wedding cakes is one of those things. I am sad, but at the same time relieved. I have found lately that I have had a hard time balancing my life, I put way more on my plate than I need to. So I am finishing out the month of June and then I am done. I may do a few here or there for people I know, and I will always get to make fun cakes for my kids. This really has been hard for me, cake decorating has been a huge part of my life for 10 years now. Anyways there is my ramblings for the day.

Cupcakes!

Sorry this picture isn't the best, it was pre digital camera days. This was a "cake" I made for one of my daughters birthdays. I think this is one of the funnest things I have created. The cupcakes are actually sitting on a wedding cake stand that I covered in frosting, sprayed brown and put graham cracker crumbs all over to look like sand. The cupcakes I iced to look like they had waves and then they each had some sort of sea creature on it. Then on top was my favorite, a goldfish in a small fish bowl, I was actually worried the fish might jump out and flop all over the cupcakes, luckily it didn't. I also added seaweed looking plants and seashells and candy rocks. Do you like the nice wallpaper on the wall? Not mine, it's my parents and happily they have changed it since:)

Cake Day!

So this is a dragonfly cupcake cake that I made for my daughter Jade about 2 years ago for her Bug birthday. Cupcake cakes are very easy to do, you can just figure out what shape you want to do arrange the cupcakes how you want then "glue"them down to a cake board with a little bit of honey or corn syrup and then ice and decorate it! Then when it comes time to serve it, all you do is pull it apart, so easy! Also these were tiny ladybug cookies I also made for her birthday.

Cake

Sorry for my lack of posts, I haven't been feeling the best these past few days, I still am not feeling very creative, but I will share with you today one of my childrens birthday cakes I have done. My husband said it was a wedding cake, I just think I was having fun. I made this cake to match the cute scrapbook paper that S had picked for her invitations.

The cake decorator side of me

So I've decided that it would be fun to share pictures of cakes I've done. I've been a cake decorator for over 9 years, I couldn't even tell you how many cakes I've done. This cake I think was one of the most challenging I've done, but the end result, I think was awesome. I loved that it was out of the norm, not just the traditional white wedding cake.

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

This is my birthday cake last year, this I think is the only birthday cake that my husband has ordered for me. I was going through a collage phase. (hence my cut out face with an icing body) I think my favorite part about this cake was the party noise maker thing coming out of my mouth.

Happy Birthday to me!

I am 28 today, it is really odd to think how close I am to 30! So I ordered my own birthday cake today, not something new for me, I've been a cake decorator since I was 18, 9 of those years I spent working at a bakery, I still do wedding cakes for a reception center. So I have many times even made my own birthday cake. So my friend Robyn that I worked with forever when I worked at the bakery made my cake today, I just told her the flavor, and said decorate however. I knew she would do something cute, so here is my birthday cake. She did a perfect job! Thanks Robyn! I love it!
