11 years old

Kinsley, you might have turned 11 almost a month ago, and I might have forgotten to post about it. Sometimes Moms forget things :)

Kinsley, I am amazed everyday that I have a daughter that is 11 now.
ELEVEN. holy. cow.
Beautiful, smart, funny, crafty, kind, happy, a leader, silly, these are just a few words I can think of to describe you. And you are getting older, older as in you aren't playing with toys as much, older as in if I can't find you, you are most likely on your bed reading. Also every once in awhile I can catch a glimpse of what we may be in for with you as a teenager :) Just promise me that you will always hug and kiss me and say I love you back, okay?

And I love that you are starting to like doing your own hair, I think it's super cute, plus look at that hairdo! It's awesome and you did it all by yourself.

Weekend happenings

We had a lovely weekend. I participated in Art Market on Friday. I purchased that cute owl in my valentines tree. Jeni Gochnour made it, isn't it so cute?!

I love it! It's the whole reason I even decorated for Valentines day :)
After I came home with my cute owl, I went outside and found a branch to hang him on.
Then I wrapped snippets of yarn around some of the branches and made some heart ornaments out of a felted wool sweater. I put the branch in a cute French lemonade bottle with some rice for some more weight.

The deer, oh the deer! I found these at a secondhand shop near my mother in laws house a couple weekends ago and painted them this teal blue color. I love them, the lady that owned the store said they were from the 1950's.

Look at the back of my owl, and those stripey straw legs! So, so cute!

Other weekend happenings:
On Saturday, Casey went to his Mom's house to help her with some things, the girls went with him too, so I had the majority of the day to myself to happily work on sewing projects. I cut out over 40 kid's aprons and over 40 girl's purses. Is it sad that I had more than enough fabric on hand to do so?

I turned 31 years old
We woke up late for church yesterday, Casey declared that it was my birthday and we were going to head up to Park City. So, Casey made us some lunch, then we headed to Park City where we found some cute striped cardigans and cute denim vests for the girls for a super deal.
I purchased the cutest floral cardigan that I have had my eye on at Old Navy, lucky for me it was 1/2 off. Have I mentioned before that I have quite the extensive cardigan collection? I have a weakness for them :) We also went to the World Market, I love that place, we always pick some yummy treats when we go there.
After Park City we went to my parents house where we had strawberry shortcake, yum!
Tonight we get to go to dinner for my birthday at Rainbow Gardens, I'm excited, it's yummy!

Chocolate cake

I just polished off the last piece of homemade chocolate birthday cake (delish if I do say so myself) and realized I hadn't posted pictures of Sage's Birthday party.

I still can't believe she is five!

We had a nice party with family for her, she requested that we have hot dogs for dinner, and a chocolate cake with a bunny on it. I made a new bag for her to take to the library, she loves it, her favorite color, green! She received a few cards with money, and she decided she wanted to buy a new dress, so we went to Target on Tuesday. She had to try on about 10 dresses until she found the perfect one (what a girly girl), she ended up picking a green one. She insisted on wearing it for the second day in a row today :)

I'm really still here

So, it's been awhile since I posted. I have been busy and trying to cut my time back on the computer, because the internet seems to have this capability to suck my time away.
I made my new kitchen curtains and a table runner! I love them!

We celebrated Kinsley's birthday on Sunday with Family. She has turned into this awesome reader, She recieved tons of books, and I made her a new bag to take to the librairy. She turned 9, I can't believe I have a 9 year old, I guess that's what happens when you have your first baby at age 20!

I made my very first cake from scratch, icing and all. (Don't look too close, the icing is oozing off one of the sides) For those of you that know me or have been reading for awhile, that might be a shock because you know that I worked as a cake decorator for years and years. I have decorated probably thousands of cakes. But until Kinsley's birthday I had never made a cake from scratch, and let me tell you, IT WAS THE MOST DELISH CHOCOLATE CAKE I HAVE EVER EATEN, if I do say so myself!
Oh, and it wasn't just me that loved it. Casey's grandfather said that I did a damn fine job with the cake, which made me smile! And my brother said it looked like the chocolate cake from the movie Matilda. (I love that movie by the way) Which I took as an awesome compliment because that cake looks delish, well it looks delish until you see the cook that made it and she wipes her nose all over her arm, but anyways. Homemade birthday cakes here on out!

I have also been sewing alot! I have a ton of shows coming up, and I am determined to be more prepared for the Farmer's Market this summer, I know it's still February but hey, I have to plan ahead!

Happy Birthday!

It was my hubby's birthday yesterday. He turned 27. Yes he is younger than me. He says by two years, I say a year and a half. He and my brother graduated from high school the same year, weird.I made him German Chocolate cupcakes from scratch. He requested they have chocolate buttercream in the middle and German chocolate icing on top. They were delish. Although, if you were ever wondering what would happen if you add twice the amount of milk a cupcake recipe calls for, it makes for extremely moist cupcakes. I made the cupcakes late at night while my head didn't feel right from a nasty cold, so I guess it was inevitable that I would mess something up!

But seriously homemade cupcakes are so good, I don't think I could ever buy a cupcake mix again!

I have an 8 year old!

My oldest daughter turned 8 today. It is really odd to me to think that I have an 8 year old. She is so much fun to have in our family. She is way too much like her mother though. She knows exactly how she wants things, she is the most creative little person that I know, and she can be a bit moody. We both are aquarius, maybe that has a bit to do with it. I love you Kinsley! Happy Birthday! So this is the cake that she requested me to make, Barbie Island princess, all blue cake with trees and flowers.

This is my birthday cake last year, this I think is the only birthday cake that my husband has ordered for me. I was going through a collage phase. (hence my cut out face with an icing body) I think my favorite part about this cake was the party noise maker thing coming out of my mouth.

I am 28 today, it is really odd to think how close I am to 30! So I ordered my own birthday cake today, not something new for me, I've been a cake decorator since I was 18, 9 of those years I spent working at a bakery, I still do wedding cakes for a reception center. So I have many times even made my own birthday cake. So my friend Robyn that I worked with forever when I worked at the bakery made my cake today, I just told her the flavor, and said decorate however. I knew she would do something cute, so here is my birthday cake. She did a perfect job! Thanks Robyn! I love it!
