I have been slowly adding things to my shop.

This is just a sample of what's in there at the moment, and my plan is to add some things each day. Go check it out.

So, I decided today that I needed to pay attention to my etsy shop again.
So I listed a bunch of things today.

Newest obsession

This tiny pom pom fringe is so cute. I love pom pom fringe anyways, but it has to be 100 times cuter when it is tiny.
I bought almost every color that was to be had :)
Now what am I going to put it on?

Yummy things from San Francisco!

When Casey and I went to San Francisco (mostly to go to the Renegade Craft Fair) I got to bring home lots of fun things. This owl purse I purchased in China Town, isn't it the cutest? The wings are actually zippered pouches, just perfect I tell you.

Sadly, I don't have pictures from Renegade because I felt too stupid to ask. Really I am a shy person, not so much as I used to be, but still shy. People have even mistaken my shyness for being stuck up, which I am not. Anyways, on to the fun stuff. The picture above is yummy screen printed linen scraps and some gift tags from Flock Home. She has lots of beautiful things for the home, I just adored.

This most perfect feather pen I purchased from Lori Marie of Pretty Little Things .

I loved all of her things, in fact her booth was one of my faves. And she is super sweet in person.

This sweet little butterfly necklace I got from Mama's little babies.

I almost purchased a bracelet like this one too, so cute!

Kay, you have to excuse blogger because I tried loading some of these pictures a million times and they didn't seem to want to go the right way. These cute beard stickers were from

I made you a beard.

She made the most awesome yarn beards!

Look at these little screen printed patches of fabric! I love them, I still can't decide what I am going to do with them. Some of my ideas are to put them in a quilt or maybe a patchwork skirt for myself. I purchased them from Field Day.

I also got this pin and hair clip from Field Day.

She makes them with found materials, I had a hard time choosing, their were so many cute ones!

This skirt I purchased from Rebe.

It is the most perfect skirt for layering, I absolutely love it. Rebe was also another favorite booth. I actually already have a couple of pieces from Rebe that I had purchased from a store called Kaleidoscope in Provo.

Here is another picture that would not load properly on blogger :) This necklace I also I purchased from Rebe .

And now that I am looking at this, I also got two hair pins that match this necklace.

I got a few other things, but I forgot to take pictures and now I am done and don't want to, so there! I am at this moment wearing a Renegade Owl t-shirt that is oh so comfy.

And that my friends is the cool stuff I got to buy in San Francisco. It was super fun and fly by the seat of our pants trip (which is kinda unlike me). I am so glad we went and now I wish that I could attend every Renegade Craft fair. I may in the future apply myself, we will see :)

Shop Swap and Blog part 1

I participated in The Shop Swap and Blog hosted by My Structured Choas.

I asked for two partners, Marion from Serpentaires was my first partner. I have to apologize to her for taking so long to post, things have been a bit crazy :)

She sent me this lovely package that included some of her beautiful illustrations and cards.

Productive day

Do you ever have one of those days you feel like you can take on anything? That is my day today. Casey had to be to work extra early today, and when he woke up, I couldn't go back to sleep. So I got up and decided to start tackling today's to do list. (I love lists by the way I don't think there is anything else more satisfying than crossing things off to do lists)
Here's what I have crossed of so far:
*dishes
*weeded a bit of the garden and picked a bowlful of delish raspberries
*started sewing a batch of bibs (that is what is pictured above, the bibs and other sewing projects i want to work on)
* listed a few things in my shop
*folded a batch of laundry
*cleaned our old microwave to take to the DI (my brother gave us a nicer one, not that we use our microwave a ton, but who can say no to something nicer than what we had)

Things to still get done today:
*put away the mountain of laundry pictured above (I seriously have a problem with making these mountains of laundry)
*Errands: go the the bank, buy some anchors so we can finally hang some things up in the newly painted playroom, take microwave to the DI, and I can't go to the thrift store without going in :)
*finish making bibs, all 47 of them :)
* make dinner, tonight we are having Tilapia, baked potatoes, and green beans purchased from the farmer's market, YUM!

And I just thought I would share my newest necklace purchase I am wearing today.
I bought it from Pamela Michelle on Etsy. I love all of her things, I have been eying her shop for quite some time and finally made a purchase and I couldn't be happier!

Now I am off to continue crossing things off!

I made it to the front page!

I made it to the front page on etsy! For the life of me I couldn't find the screenshot of it so here is the treasury screen shot, I had to google how to do a screenshot. I just found out recently that there is a flickr group that posts screenshots of the front page of etsy, I'm going to have to keep checking it. Thanks Swiedebie for letting me know I made it to the front page!

Running an Etsy Shop

Awhile back someone had asked me if running an Etsy shop had been worth it. For me it has been, but it has been a learning experience, I am still learning. Here are some of the things I have learned:

* list or relist things often

* more people are online shopping at night after they get off work, so if possible list things around that time

* for me, I have had a hard time with shipping, I started selling things in March of 2008, and I finally feel like my shipping prices are where they should be.

* I just recently started printing off my shipping labels online, it is cheaper plus you don't have to wait in line at the post office (you will need to purchase a postal scale, I got mine at Costco for around $20, I've seen them at Wal-mart too)

*good pictures, people have to purchase your products by the pictures alone, I try to take mine outside, the light is better.

*if you don't already have a blog, start a blog and make comments on other blogs

* giveaways are an awesome way to create excitement over your shop whether it be on your own blog or other blogs

As I said I am still learning, and honestly, I don't always do the things I listed above, like when I have been busy with the Farmer's Market or getting ready for shows, I neglected my etsy shop a bit because I didn't have the time for it. The more time I have to put into my shop, the more it pays off.

Another thing to mention right now is the new laws for children's items that are supposed to go into effect in February. If children's items are something you are considering selling, if it were me, I would hold out for a month to see if any amendments are made, or else you may be investing in something you won't be able to sell in a month. If you need more info on the subject, I have a Save Handmade link in my sidebar.

I hope that some of this info has been helpful, I know that when I started my Etsy shop, I just kind of dived in, but that is usually what I do with anything and then I learn about it:)

Handmade Christmas part 1

This year I have decided to make it a handmade Christmas. I thought it would be fun to share the things that my girls will be receiving this year, maybe it will give you ideas, I just think this is going to be fun all around. So, the first gift idea, have your kids draw a picture of an animal, monster, alien, whatever and make it into a stuffed animal. Now, I do not possess the skills to make stuffed animals, so I enlisted the very talented Becky.

She also has an etsy shop where she has very cute pocket people which I have posted about before and other cute things like cupcake hotpads, different patterns for dolls and wool softies, very cute!

So, here we have Quack. (that is what my daughter named her bird in the picture)

From a drawing to the cutest stuffed animal. Becky even made it so that the clothes can be taken off. And it says Quack on the butt. These were hard to take pictures of, they are cute in the pictures, but trust me they are even better in person!



Here is the cutest horse with a raggy main and tail, so, so clever! And again removable saddle and skirt.



And here is Waggy the dog with the coolest curly tail, and removable hat and sweater and even a dog tag that says Waggy!
I love them all and now I just have to keep them a secret until Christmas.
Becky did an awesome job with them, I am very impressed! I showed them off to family and friends and they all loved them too! My kids are going to love them.

Excited about Fall clothes

First, I will share with you one of my very favorite etsy shops, I'm talking this etsy shop is going to get me into trouble. If I had the mula I would be buying everything that I wanted. It is called

Idea 2 lifestyle. I received a happy package in the mail today with the jacket below. I was super excited because I love it, plus I ordered it on September 25th and it got here in 6 days from Hong Kong, I was impressed. I tried to take a picture wearing it, which wasn't working out, but it looks awesome on.The dress below is the first thing I ordered from this shop earlier in September. Lots of flowing fabric and super comfortable, I wear leggings under it, too fun!
The last picture isn't great, but you can see the coolest boots that I splurged on at Aldo
They are actually my first pair of boots ever, I love them with all their buckle goodness.
Now it just needs to get chilly so that I can wear my fall clothes, It is probably over 80 degrees here today, still feels like summer.
Also, I updated my shop today, there is lots of fun stuff!

Etsy Day- Pamela Michelle

I just love these hand painted, cut, and etched necklaces. There are so many cute ones, birds, owls, flowers, I have come so close to buying one many times but can't decide which is my favorite. Go here to check them out!

On another note, what do you think the chances are of having one car in the shop and then the other one's starter going bad? Well this has happened to us. Good thing my husband has a company vehicle that he drives to work. Also good that I don't have anything going on that I need a car. You just have to laugh at life sometimes :)

The little things that make me excited

I had this stamp made up and it came in the mail last week. I was so excited, so now I can stamp this on the back of my stitched fabric cards. I think it looks so cute and what a great way to advertise and brand my product! Yea for custom stamps! I was thinking it would be fun for my kids if they drew a picture and then I could have it made into a stamp. I've actually been thinking a lot lately about unique things I can get for my children for birthdays and Christmas, my children currently have too many toys and nowhere to put them so we have been going through them for the yard sale pile. And I am just sick of the commercial stuff, unless it is something a bit different and you wouldn't see everywhere.
